DBT Family Program

The Supportive Family Program for Teens and Families, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a clinical program serving high-risk, multi-issue identified adolescents between the ages of 13-18. The Budding Elm DBT program specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and risk-adverse behaviour, which includes self-injury, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, physical fighting, substance use, and eating disorders. Each individual has a life story influenced by many unique experiences and factors. Our DBT Supportive Family Program for Teens and Families acknowledges that the strengthening of relationship between youth and their family is the foundation for withstanding change. With the combination of environment and physiology, youth may react more intensely to adverse feelings and emotion explaining greater prevalence for repetitive crisis and oftentimes, rapid shift in emotion. DBT is a therapeutic approach that demonstrates skills that provide adolescents and their families with the strategies required for effective emotional coping and management. DBT Family Program targets: confusion & self-insecurity, impulsivity, emotional instability, interpersonal problems, and family conflict.
