Are you a compassionate, skilled, and motivated therapist looking to thrive in a collaborative, structured, and family-oriented practice? The Budding Elm: Counselling & Consultation Services is seeking Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) and Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCCs) to join our growing team across our Westshore location.

In this role, you will provide evidence-based, client-centered therapy to children, youth, adults, couples, and families navigating a wide range of mental health, emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. Working within a strengths-based and trauma-informed framework, you will collaborate with clients to foster resilience, self-awareness, emotional well-being, and healthy relationships.

Founded in 2019 by Dr. Katie Elmhurst, The Budding Elm is a mental health practice providing client-centered, evidence-based care across Victoria, British Columbia. What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a clinician who values depth, consistency, and meaningful therapeutic work, taking pride in building strong, ongoing relationships with the individuals and families they support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active caseload (target: ~15 client sessions per week), offering both in-person and virtual therapy.

  • Conduct initial intake assessments and complimentary 15-minute phone consultations to determine fit and treatment goals.

  • Develop and deliver personalized, evidence-informed treatment plans tailored to individuals, youth, or families.

  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation (session notes, treatment plans, third-party correspondence) in alignment with professional standards.

  • Coordinate client care needs, including referrals and collaborative care where appropriate.

  • Participate in clinical meetings, case consultations, and internal group supervision.

  • Practice in strict accordance with the ethical standards of your regulatory/professional body.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field.

  • Active registration in good standing as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the CCPA.

  • Minimum 1 year post-graduation experience practicing psychotherapy or clinical counselling.

  • Demonstrated foundation in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered approaches.

  • Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities.

Availability & Work Structure

  • Contract Type: Independent Contractor.

  • Schedule: Flexible hybrid model (virtual and in-person) requiring availability 3 days per week across daytime, evening, or weekend blocks to ensure client accessibility.

  • Location Presence: In-person sessions take place at our Langford (Westshore) office to support relational, consistent care for local clients.
